Woods Hole Biological Laboratory Annual Course in Developmental Biology
Dear friends,

I will call your attention to the fact that the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole is extending the deadline for applications to the 2011 version of its acclaimed course entitled “Embryology: Concepts and Techniques in Modern Developmental Biology” to February 15th

Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn about development, evolution, multiple animal models and to get in touch with some of the best researchers in our field.

Do not get discouraged by the tuition costs. The MBL can offer up to 75% of these costs (see details here and http://www.mbl.edu/education/courses/summer/course_embryo.html).

Hope you will enjoy!

Latin American Zebrafish Network
LASDB is pleased to announce the creation of the Latin American Zebrafish Network (LAZEN), under the auspices of AMSUD-Pasteur. This Network is devoted to the development of the zebrafish as an experimental animal system in Latin America, by bringing local labs together and promoting the formation of researchers and technicians interested in any aspect of zebrafish biology and/or husbandry. The First LAZEN meeting took place in Montevideo, Uruguay, on December 10-11, 2010. During this meeting, which included the participation of around 20 regional principal investigators, a Coordinating Committee was designated, as follows: F.R. Zolessi (Chair; Uruguay), M. Allende (Chile), N.B. Calcaterra (Argentina) and M.R. Vianna (Brazil). For more information, visit: http://www.zebrafish.cl/lazen.html, or contact: lazen@zebrafish.cl

Position available
A position focused on evo-devo is available in the Department of Zoology at the Instituto de Biociências of the University of São Paulo in Brazil.
